The village of Penywaun in Rhondda Cynon Taf is the first community to agree to become involved in Invest Local.
At a public meeting, over 50 residents and representatives from community groups agreed that they want to take part in the programme. Penywaun will now benefit from a programme of funding and support over the next 10 years, and the community will decide how it will spend £1million to create lasting, positive change in the local area.
Rachel Harding, the Invest Local officer for Penywaun said: “We’re really looking forward to working with the people of Penywaun and finding out what their priorities are for the area. The next steps involve consulting with as many people as possible from the community about what’s important to them, and what they would like to see happen in their local area.”
We’ll be sharing more about what’s happening in Penywaun over the coming months, so watch this space. Meanwhile, you can find out more about Invest Local here.
