Building a New Local Economy in Wales

18th October, 2017

Cardiff City Stadium

For many years, Wales has faced the challenge of building a better economy with more resilient communities. Some progress has been made, but too many communities continue to struggle.

Wales is not unique in this challenge. There is a growing global movement and agenda of change, and Wales needs to stride confidently into this agenda.

Across the country, communities, civil society, businesses and public sector are using strong networks, local identities, and creativity. They are making a difference – building resilience and forging new local economies.

Join us at this conference, which is both a celebration of good practice in Wales and beyond, as well as a call to create the conditions to build true local wealth that benefits all our communities.

Through talks and workshops, the event will:

Look at the global movement for change – with Ted Howard from Democracy Collaborative in the USA https://twitter.com/DemocracyCollab

Host debate and discussions to explore how communities can develop more resilience

Celebrate some great examples of community resilience through a series of workshops on: Developing Community Wealth, Supporting Resilient Localities, Anchor Institutions, Foundational Economy, Local Business, Social Care, and Turnaround Towns

Look at the next steps for realising wealth for all in Wales
