Pill Unity held a Green Fun Day for the community on the May Day bank holiday weekend, which included guided tours, gardening, cookery workshops, with a bouncy castle and face painting for younger people to enjoy.
Local volunteers got started on preparing the area outside Pill Millennium Centre for Green Flag Community Award judging by landscaping, planting and making hanging baskets for Commercial Road.
Pill Unity led an area walk to identify and gather input on places that need improving and were surprised by Tin Shed Theatre. Their ‘Imaginary Imagination Consultants for the National Wonder Emporium’ encouraged local residents to explore what imaginative ideas they can create within the neighbourhood.
People also enjoyed storytelling at The Phyllis Maud, a former public toilet recently transformed into a performance space, as well as making and eating won tons and vegetable spring rolls at interactive Chinese cookery sessions.
Pill Unity organised an amazing day that brought the community together with the help of training from Dynamix consultants, who were on hand supporting them in trying out their new facilitation skills during the Fun Day.
