The Caerau Development Trust saw a fantastic turnout for Invest Local Caerau’s first Health and Wellbeing Day. Caerau Cookery Club, Drink Wise Age Well, Community Furniture Aid, Caerau Men’s Shed, Diabetes UK, and Dyffryn Befriending Groups were just some of the 25 community groups and organisations that took part, sharing information about how they can help local people.
Leida Salway from Invest Local Caerau's Wellbeing Group told us:
"The event was organised by members of Invest Local Caerau’s Wellbeing group after discussions with representatives of the substance abuse charities Barod and Dafodol.
"Graham Dawe and his team of volunteers at Caerau Development Trust organised an outstanding buffet for 100 people, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
"Caerau Cookery Club cooked freshly made Welshcakes at their table, which disappeared as fast as they were cooked! A Slimming World representative was present to offer advice and sign people up to the Caerau group.
"The Maesteg OlympAge group from Halo played Kurling in the Library, and there was a Tai Chi session from the instructor of the group in St Cynfelyns Church, as well as the opportunity to try reflexology.
"The 30 free goody bags were quickly snapped up by the early visitors, and the venue was a hive of activity for 3 hours. Many people asked when the next one was being held, with some requesting a weekend or evening session to allow people who were working to attend."
