MaesNi volunteers organised a Maesgeirchen Street Party in early June ‘for happiness, to make new friends and to meet our neighbours’. People brought along dishes to share, with trophies (made by Bangor Arts Initiative) awarded for efforts in categories such as the ‘Cheesiest Sandwich’ and ‘Cutest Cupcake’.
Lots of helping hands decorated tables and put up bunting to ensure the feast looked as good as it tasted. The sun came out for the occasion, meaning the backup venue of the local church wasn’t needed and children enjoyed outdoor fun and games.
One Maesgeirchen resident said, “It was a brilliant day, that. I got to see neighbours I hadn’t seen in ages!”
MaesNi has gained a few more steering group members as a result and everyone involved in organising the street party are keen to get cracking with another event, possibly an outdoor cinema.
