19 Jan 2021

Invest Local Caerau have delivered their Winter 2020 newsletter, keeping local residents updated with community news and projects, and letting them know where they can access support for issues such as increased winter energy costs. You can view the newsletter at the bottom of this page.

They also posted a ‘year in review’ on Facebook of the funding given out to support Covid-19 responses in 2020:

  • £1,500 to purchase chocolate selection boxes for children and senior citizens at Christmas
  • £2,000 to support food supplies response from Caerau Development Trust
  • £1,000 to support community response from Special Families Maesteg
  • £1,000 to support food supplies from Bridgend Foodbank
  • £3,300 to support summer activity packs from Noddfa Kids & Community Project
  • printing costs for the two Covid-19 community information leaflets posted to every household produced by Noddfa Kids & Community Project
  • bulk purchase of PPE for Caerau organisations which require them to open and operate safely

In addition to Covid-19 responses, the Caerau Men’s Shed group were given £10,000 of Invest Local funding. The cheque was presented by Huw Irranca-Davies MS to the group’s chairman, Chris Davies, who gave Huw a tour of the new workshop. The money will be used for building works for the workshop, helping them continue their aim of tackling social isolation and improving wellbeing in the Llynfi Valley.
