Graham Benfield


 

The former chief executive of Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Graham is a founding trustee of the Building Communities Trust and chaired the board from its inception before stepping down in 2022.

His breadth of skills and experience include managing people and resources, translating ideas into action, and breaking new ground in government/voluntary sector relationships. He has overseen a wide range of grant giving programmes and the development of social finance initiatives in Wales.

He has served on many public bodies and committees, including: Big Lottery Fund (Wales Committee), Legal Services Commission (Wales Committee), Wales Funders’ Forum (Chair), Equality and Human Rights Coalition (Chair), Climate Change Commission, Public Services Leadership Group, Joint Employment Delivery Group, and Place Programme Advisory Group.

His previous experience also includes working with residents on the peripheral estates of outer London, the new estates of Skelmersdale, the city centre of Plymouth and the valleys of Glamorgan.

He currently chairs Glamorgan Voluntary Services and is a trustee of various organisations in the Vale of Glamorgan and Llantwit Major.
