Carol was Director of Swansea Council for Voluntary Service until October 2015. Before this, she was a lecturer in social work at Swansea University, specialising in community and third sector. As a community worker, she has worked in some of the most deprived areas in Edinburgh, Salford and Cardiff.
Carol has represented the third sector on many Swansea partnerships, including the LSB and the Early Years Development & Childcare Partnership, and the Flying Start Strategic group.
She has also been chair of the DWP Deprived Area Fund Swansea Bay (until 2011), chair of the Objective 1 Human Resources Assets Strategic Partnership, and was a member of a Ministerial Advisory Group on the Future of Cohesion Funding 2012.
Until July 2015, she was a member of the Welsh Government Ministerial Strategic Improvement Group and the Welsh Government Good Governance Group, and was also a member of the Big Lottery Board for Brighter Futures.
Carol is a JP, a member of the West Glamorgan Queens Award Panel, and a governor of Gower College.
